The Native American Women’s Conference is proud to announce the opening of nominations for our inaugural Elder of the Year award. Beginning Saturday, August 1, you are invited to nominate an elder who embodies strength, wisdom, and a lifetime of service to our communities.
This prestigious honor will be presented during our Elder Celebration Breakfast on Friday, November 6, at the 10th Annual Native American Women’s Conference at We-Ko-Pa Resort in Ft. McDowell, Arizona.
We invite you to uplift and recognize an elder who has made a lasting impact—through cultural preservation, community leadership, healing, teaching, or quiet resilience.
“I am going to be myself and live my own story.” — Wilma Mankiller, first female Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation
Let’s come together to honor the matriarchs and knowledge keepers who continue to shape our path forward. Full nomination details and criteria will be available on our website beginning August 1.
Stay tuned—and start thinking about who deserves to be celebrated.
